This fried pickle dip takes everything you love about fried pickles — the crunch, the tang, the addictive salty flavor — and puts it all in a big bowl of creamy, fluffy dip. The base is cream cheese and sour cream whipped until smooth and airy, then seasoned with pickle juice, onion powder, and garlic for that deep, savory flavor. Fold in diced dill pickles and fresh dill, top it all with golden butter-toasted breadcrumbs, and you’ve got something that genuinely disappears off the table.

I love this one for parties because it looks impressive, takes about 20 minutes to pull together, and works with basically everything — chips, pretzels, crackers, veggies, you name it. The best part is that the breadcrumbs give you that fried pickle experience without any deep-frying, and honestly? Everyone always asks where the recipe came from. It’s one of those dips that sounds a little quirky but wins over even the pickle skeptics.

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need for this fried pickle dip recipe. Find the full measurements in the recipe card below.

  • Cream cheese — the rich, creamy base that gets whipped into something fluffy and luxurious. Full-fat gives the best texture, but light works too, if you want to reduce calories.
  • Sour cream — adds tang and lightens the texture. Greek yogurt is a great swap if you want a slightly higher-protein, lighter version.
  • Pickle juice — the secret weapon here! It gives the dip that unmistakably tangy, briny pickle flavor without overwhelming it. Go easy though — too much will make the dip runnier.
  • Onion powder and garlic powder — the seasoning backbone. They add depth without being overpowering.
  • Salt — just enough to pull everything together.
  • Dill pickles, roughly diced — the star of the show. Pat them dry before folding in so they don’t add excess liquid. Use your favorite brand or variety.
  • Fresh dill, minced — adds brightness and that classic pickle-forward herbiness. Dried dill can work in a pinch, but fresh makes a real difference here.
  • Breadcrumbs — these get toasted in butter until golden and crispy, giving you the “fried” element of the dip. For gluten-free, swap for a corn-based or gluten-free breadcrumb option.
  • Butter — for toasting the breadcrumbs to golden perfection.

How To Make Fried Pickle Dip

Find the full recipe and nutritional information below. Here are some handy step-by-step photos for how to make this fried pickle dip.

  • In a small pan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the breadcrumbs. Stir frequently for about 10 minutes until they’re golden, crispy, and smell amazing. Watch them closely — they can go from golden to burnt fast!
  • While the breadcrumbs are toasting, add the cream cheese, sour cream, pickle juice, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt to a medium mixing bowl. Use a spatula to roughly combine, then whip with a handheld or stand mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  • Once the breadcrumbs are done, set half aside for topping. Stir the other half into the cream cheese base.
  • Pat the diced pickle chips dry, then fold them into the bowl along with the minced fresh dill until everything is evenly incorporated.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, scatter the reserved breadcrumbs over the top, and garnish with dill sprigs and a few whole pickle chips.
  • Serve immediately with chips, pretzels, crackers, or your favorite veggies.

Recipe Tips

  • Season to taste. Once the dip is mixed, taste it and adjust — more dill, a splash more pickle juice, extra garlic or onion powder are all fair game. Just remember: too much pickle juice will thin the dip out.
  • Don’t skip the mixer. You can stir this by hand, but whipping the cream cheese and sour cream with a handheld or stand mixer takes the texture from “good” to genuinely fluffy and light. Worth the extra 30 seconds.
  • Watch those breadcrumbs. Medium heat and frequent stirring are key — they can go from golden to burnt quickly, so don’t walk away.
  • Dry your pickles. Pat the diced pickles with a paper towel before folding them in. It keeps the dip from getting watery as it sits.
  • Make it dairy-free. Substitute the cream cheese, sour cream, and butter with your favorite plant-based alternatives. Simple Truth is a reliable option here.
  • Make it gluten-free. Swap the regular breadcrumbs for a corn-based or certified gluten-free option — same process, same great result.
  • Make ahead. You can prepare the dip up to a day in advance and store it covered in the fridge. Just hold off on adding the breadcrumbs until right before serving so they stay crispy.
  • Storage. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The breadcrumbs will soften over time, so add a fresh sprinkle when serving from leftovers if you like.

Serving Suggestions

This fried dill pickle dip is tailor-made for a party spread. Set it out with a big bowl of thick-cut potato chips or salted pretzels for dipping — the salty crunch is perfect against the creamy, tangy base. Corn chips and pita crisps also work beautifully.

If you want to go the veggie route, celery sticks, cucumber rounds, and bell pepper strips are all great dippers and add a nice fresh contrast.

This would fit right in on a game day snack board, a holiday appetizer table, or as the star of a summer backyard spread. It also pairs well alongside other creamy dips — smoked salmon dip, whipped feta, or buffalo chicken dip — if you’re doing a full dip spread for a crowd.

This fried pickle dip is everything a party appetizer should be — creamy, tangy, packed with fresh dill and real pickle flavor, and topped with golden buttery breadcrumbs that bring the “fried” crunch without any deep-frying. Ready in just 20 minutes and loved by everyone who tries it. Find step-by-step photos and more recipe tips above.

  • In a small pan over medium heat, add the butter and breadcrumbs. Stir frequently for approximately 10 minutes until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye — they can burn quickly. Remove from heat and set aside.

  • While the breadcrumbs are toasting, add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, pickle juice, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt to a medium mixing bowl. Use a spatula to roughly combine, then whip with a handheld mixer or stand mixer until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.

  • Once the breadcrumbs are ready, set half aside for the topping. Stir the remaining half into the cream cheese mixture.

  • Pat the diced pickle chips dry with a paper towel, then fold them into the bowl along with the minced fresh dill until evenly incorporated.

  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Sprinkle the reserved toasted breadcrumbs over the top, then garnish with dill sprigs and whole pickle chips.

  • Serve immediately with chips, pretzels, crackers, or sliced vegetables.

Important Ingredient Tips: Softening the cream cheese before mixing makes it much easier to whip to a smooth, fluffy texture. Pat the diced pickles dry before folding in to prevent excess liquid from thinning the dip.
Key Recipe Tips: Use a handheld or stand mixer to whip the cream cheese base — this is optional but significantly improves the texture. Season the dip to taste once mixed; more pickle juice, dill, garlic, or onion powder can all be added. Watch the breadcrumbs closely on medium heat and stir often to prevent burning.
Storage Tips: Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The breadcrumbs will soften over time — add a fresh sprinkle before serving leftovers if you like.
Make-Ahead Tips: The dip can be made a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator. Do not add the breadcrumbs until just before serving to maintain their crunch.
FAQs:
What equipment do I need to make this? You’ll need a small sauté pan for toasting the breadcrumbs, a medium mixing bowl, and a handheld or stand mixer (optional but recommended).
Can I use a different type of pickle? Yes — any pickle variety you enjoy works here, as long as it can be diced. Bread and butter pickles will add a sweeter note; kosher dills keep it classic.
Can I substitute the sour cream? Greek yogurt works well as a swap for a slightly higher-protein version.
How do I make this dairy-free? Substitute the cream cheese, sour cream, and butter with plant-based alternatives (Simple Truth is a good option).
How do I make this gluten-free? Swap the breadcrumbs for a corn-based or certified gluten-free breadcrumb alternative.
Can I make this ahead of time? Yes — make the dip as directed and refrigerate, but hold off on the breadcrumb topping until just before serving so they stay crispy.

Classic never goes out of style, and these Caprese salad skewers prove it. Creamy herby mozzarella, juicy cherry tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze — it’s one of those appetizers that disappears the moment you put it on the table.

Caprese skewers are the kind of recipe that looks like you’ve put in a lot more effort than you actually have — and I mean that as the highest compliment. Herb-flavored Mozzarella pearls (or baby bocconcini) bring a lovely, aromatic creaminess that takes things up a notch from plain fresh mozzarella, and paired with sweet cherry tomatoes and fragrant basil, every bite is basically summer on a stick.

I love reaching for this one when I need a show-stopping appetizer that requires zero cooking and minimal cleanup. The balsamic glaze does the heavy lifting in the flavor department — that sweet-tangy drizzle pulls everything together beautifully and makes the whole platter look incredibly elegant.

Make these for your next dinner party, garden gathering, or even a casual Friday night spread, and watch them vanish before you’ve had a chance to grab one for yourself.

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need for this Caprese salad skewers recipe. Find the full measurements in the recipe card below.

  • Cherry tomatoes — The star of the show. You want ripe, sweet ones with good colour. A mix of red and yellow cherry tomatoes looks gorgeous on the platter. Grape tomatoes or chopped Roma tomatoes also work in a pinch.
  • Herb mozzarella pearls — These are the secret weapon. The herb infusion adds an extra layer of flavour that plain mozzarella doesn’t have. Look for them in the deli or specialty cheese section of your supermarket. If you can only find plain mozzarella pearls (or baby bocconcini in Australia), it’s easy to make your own herb-marinated version at home — just combine them with olive oil, fresh or dried herbs (or some pesto), and a pinch of salt and let them sit for 30 minutes (see tips below for the full method). Pat them dry before skewering so the balsamic glaze doesn’t slide straight off.
  • Fresh basil leaves — Essential for that classic Italian aroma. Use medium-sized leaves if you can — they fold neatly onto the skewer without needing to be halved.
  • Balsamic glaze — Grab a bottle from the supermarket (usually near the vinegar or salad dressings). The store-bought version is thick, sweet, and absolutely perfect here. Add it right before serving for the best presentation.
  • Wooden skewers (6–8 inches) — These are the ideal length for a loaded, grab-and-go skewer with three tomatoes and two mozzarella pearls. Toothpicks work for a mini version.
  • For the herb marinade (optional): Olive oil, dried Italian herbs (or a mix of dried oregano, thyme, and basil), a pinch of red chili flakes, a small garlic clove, and salt. This is only needed if you’re making your own marinated mozzarella rather than buying pre-flavored pearls.

How To Make Caprese Salad Skewers

Find the full recipe and nutritional information below. Here are some handy step-by-step photos for how to make these antipasto skewers.

  • Start by patting your mozzarella pearls dry with a paper towel. This is the step most people skip — don’t! Moisture from the mozzarella will make the balsamic glaze slide right off, and can make the skewers a little soggy.
  • Set out 12 skewer sticks on a tray and assemble each one in this order: tomato, mozzarella, basil, tomato, basil, mozzarella, tomato. You end up with three tomatoes, two mozzarella pearls, and two basil leaves per skewer — a really well-balanced bite.
  • Arrange the assembled skewers on your serving platter. At this point, you can cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours if you’re prepping ahead.
  • When you’re ready to serve, drizzle the balsamic glaze generously over the skewers. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tips

  • Dry the mozzarella first. Moisture is the enemy here. A quick pat with paper towel makes a big difference to the final result.
  • Add the balsamic at the last minute. The skewers look their best when the glaze is freshly drizzled. If you add it too early, it pools and loses that beautiful glossy finish.
  • Choose the right skewers. 6–8-inch wooden skewers are ideal for this assembly. They’re long enough to hold three tomatoes comfortably without being unwieldy to eat. If you’re making a mini version for a cocktail party, toothpicks work great with smaller amounts per stick.
  • Use herb-flavored mozzarella if you can find it. It genuinely makes a difference. If you can only find plain fresh mozzarella, that’s completely fine — you can also marinate plain mozzarella pearls in a little olive oil, dried Italian herbs, and a pinch of salt for 30 minutes before assembling.
  • Substitutions: Grape tomatoes or chopped Roma tomatoes work in place of cherry tomatoes. Plain mozzarella pearls can be swapped for herb-flavored ones.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the skewers up to 24 hours in advance, cover, and refrigerate. Add the balsamic glaze just before serving.
  • Storage: Once dressed with balsamic glaze, the skewers are best enjoyed within 2 hours (the basil will start to darken). Undressed skewers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Serving Suggestions

These caprese salad skewers are endlessly versatile. They’re brilliant on their own as a passed appetizer at a summer party, but they also shine as part of a larger Italian-inspired spread — think an antipasto platter with cured meats, marinated olives, artichokes, and crusty bread. They look stunning standing upright in small shot glasses with a tiny drop of balsamic at the bottom, which is a fun trick for dinner parties that always gets a reaction.

For a more casual setting, just lay them flat on a large board alongside my hot honey prosciutto flatbread pizza and a good charcuterie board, and call it a summer spread. They pair beautifully with a crisp Pinot Grigio, an Aperol spritz, or sparkling water with lemon.

The easiest Italian appetizer that always impresses — herb mozzarella pearls, sweet cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze on a stick. Ready in 15 minutes and made for sharing. Find step-by-step photos and more recipe tips above.

  • Pat the mozzarella pearls dry with paper towel to remove excess moisture. This helps the balsamic glaze adhere when serving.

  • Set out 12 skewer sticks on a tray or board ready for assembly.

  • Thread the ingredients onto each skewer in this order: tomato, mozzarella, basil, tomato, basil, mozzarella, tomato. Repeat for all 12 skewers.

  • Arrange the completed skewers on a serving platter. At this point you can cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours if making ahead.

  • Just before serving, drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over all the skewers. Serve immediately.

Important Ingredient Tips: Herb-flavored mozzarella pearls give these skewers the best flavour — the herb infusion takes them from good to great. If you can’t find them, it’s easy to make your own: place plain mozzarella pearls in a small bowl or jar and cover with olive oil. Add a generous pinch of dried Italian herbs (or a mix of dried oregano, thyme, and basil), a pinch of red chili flakes, a small garlic clove (lightly crushed), and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine and let the mozzarella sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or up to 24 hours in the fridge. Drain well, and pat dry before assembling. Always pat mozzarella dry before skewering, regardless of which version you’re using.
Key Recipe Tips: Use 6–8 inch wooden skewers for best results. Pat mozzarella dry before assembling to prevent sogginess. Add balsamic glaze at the last minute for the best presentation and appearance.
Storage Tips: Once dressed with balsamic glaze, serve within 2 hours. Undressed assembled skewers can be stored covered in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you’ve made the homemade herb-marinated mozzarella, store any unused pearls submerged in the herb oil in the fridge for up to 5 days — the oil will solidify when chilled, so just bring to room temperature before using.
Make-Ahead Tips: Assemble skewers up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate covered. Do not add the balsamic glaze until just before serving.
FAQs:
What supplies do I need? You’ll need 6–8-inch wooden skewer sticks and a tray or platter to assemble and serve them on.
How should I store caprese skewers? Store undressed skewers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Once balsamic glaze has been added, they’re best eaten within 2 hours as the basil will begin to darken.
Can I make substitutions? Yes — plain mozzarella pearls work instead of herb-flavored, and grape tomatoes or chopped Roma tomatoes can replace cherry tomatoes.
Can I make these ahead of time? Absolutely. Assemble the skewers as directed and refrigerate, but hold off on the balsamic glaze until you’re ready to serve for the best presentation.
How many skewers per person? Plan for 2–3 skewers per person if serving alongside other appetizers, or 3–4 if these are the main finger food.
Can I add other ingredients? Yes! You can turn these into antipasto skewers by adding folded prosciutto, salami, marinated artichoke hearts, or olives between the cheese and tomatoes.

I love nachos, but I don’t love feeling hungry an hour later — so these BBQ shredded chicken nachos lean on protein-packed shredded chicken and black beans to make the whole tray more satisfying, without losing any of the melty, loaded appeal.

Oven-baked shredded chicken or leftover rotisserie chicken gets tossed in smoky paprika, chili powder and BBQ sauce, then layered through the tortilla chips with black beans and a proper amount of melty cheddar and Monterey Jack (or Colby), so every single chip gets a bit of everything.

Instead of just cheese and sour cream, there’s a whole tumble of fresh tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and cilantro on top, plus a light lime sour cream that cuts through the richness. It’s the kind of tray that works for game day, a casual dinner, or whenever you’ve got leftover shredded chicken to use up.

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need for this BBQ chicken nachos recipe. Find the full measurements in the recipe card below.

BBQ chicken:

  • Shredded chicken – use your favorite method, like this slow cooker shredded chicken, or rotisserie chicken if you’re short on time
  • BBQ sauce – pick a smoky one, it pairs beautifully with the Tex-Mex spices
  • Spices – smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin – this spice blend gives the chicken depth without needing much effort

Nachos:

  • Tortilla chips – the base for everything, go for a sturdy variety that holds up under toppings
  • Black beans – rinse the canned ones well, it removes excess sodium and improves the flavor, and they add protein and fiber
  • Reduced-fat sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack – melts beautifully while keeping things a little lighter; Colby is a good swap for Monterey Jack. Full-fat cheese is obviously fine as well

Fresh toppings:

  • Cherry tomatoes, avocado, red onion, cilantro – these add freshness, color and crunch, and are honestly what stop the nachos from feeling heavy
  • Jalapeño – optional, add it if you like a bit of heat
  • Lime wedges – for squeezing over just before eating

Light lime sour cream:

  • Light sour cream, lime juice, a pinch of salt – whisked together for a tangy drizzle that cuts through the richness; you can add a little minced garlic for a more pungent flavor.

How To Make BBQ Shredded Chicken Nachos

Find the full recipe and nutritional information below. Here are some handy step-by-step photos for how to make BBQ shredded chicken nachos.

  • Combine the shredded chicken with BBQ sauce and spices in a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 3–4 minutes until warmed through and evenly coated, then remove from the heat.
  • Whisk together the light sour cream, lime juice and salt in a small bowl, then refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange half the tortilla chips on a large sheet pan, then top with half the BBQ chicken, cheddar, Monterey Jack, and black beans.
  • Repeat with a second layer of chips and toppings — layering like this means every chip gets some filling instead of a pile of bare chips at the bottom.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the edges are lightly browned.
  • Finish with the diced tomatoes, avocado, red onion, cilantro and jalapeño (if using), then drizzle over the lime sour cream. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Recipe Tips

  • Rinse canned black beans before using them — it removes excess sodium and gives them a better flavor.
  • A sheet pan spreads the toppings more evenly than a deep baking dish, so you get fewer plain chips at the bottom.
  • Layer the toppings through the chips rather than just piling everything on top — it distributes the flavor and stops you from needing to overload on cheese.
  • For extra vegetables, add diced bell peppers or shredded lettuce after baking.
  • Bake the chips as soon as you assemble them and hold off on wet toppings until after baking, to keep everything crisp.
  • Variations: add grilled corn kernels for sweetness, swap in pinto beans, use pepper jack instead of cheddar for more heat, add diced mango for a sweet-smoky contrast, or make individual portions in small oven-safe skillets.

Serving Suggestions

These nachos are hearty enough to serve as a main, especially alongside something fresh like a pineapple salsa or mango salsa, cucumber salad, or grilled corn salad. You can make a batch of my cilantro lime sauce for a drizzle instead of using lime and sour cream.

A bit of fresh fruit and some sparkling lime water rounds it out nicely if you’re serving a crowd. They’re best eaten straight off the tray while everything is still hot, and the chips are crisp.

Smoky BBQ shredded chicken, black beans and melty cheese piled onto crispy tortilla chips, finished with fresh toppings and a tangy lime sour cream. Find step-by-step photos and more recipe tips above.

  • Prepare the BBQ chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, combine the shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder and cumin. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until warmed through and evenly coated. Remove from heat.

  • Make the light lime sour cream: In a small bowl, whisk together the light sour cream, lime juice and salt. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

  • Assemble the nachos: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange half the tortilla chips on a large sheet pan or oven-safe platter. Top with half the BBQ chicken, cheddar, Monterey Jack and black beans. Repeat with a second layer. Layering this way ensures every bite gets toppings instead of leaving plain chips underneath.

  • Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the nachos are heated through, and the edges begin to lightly brown. Remove from the oven.

  • Finish with fresh toppings: Top with diced tomatoes, avocado, red onion, cilantro and jalapeños (if using). Drizzle with the light lime sour cream and serve immediately with lime wedges.

Important Ingredient Tips: Reduced-fat cheese still melts well here, so you don’t lose that gooey texture while keeping things a bit lighter. Rinsing the black beans removes excess sodium and improves their flavor.
Key Recipe Tips: Use a sheet pan for more even topping distribution, layer the fillings through the chips rather than just on top, and hold off on wet toppings until after baking to keep things crisp.
Storage Tips: These are best eaten fresh, straight off the tray. Leftovers can be refrigerated, but the chips will soften.
Make-Ahead Tips: The BBQ chicken and lime sour cream can both be made ahead and refrigerated. Assemble and bake just before serving for the best texture.
FAQs:
Can I make these ahead? The components can be prepped ahead, but assemble and bake just before serving for maximum crispness.
Can I use rotisserie chicken? Yes, though a homemade shredded chicken keeps the flavor consistent if you’re building out a series of recipes around it.
Can I make them spicier? Add cayenne pepper, chipotle powder, or extra jalapeños.
What BBQ sauce works best? A smoky BBQ sauce pairs especially well with the Tex-Mex seasonings and black beans.
How do I prevent soggy nachos? Bake the chips immediately after assembling and avoid adding wet toppings until after baking.

It can be light and fresh, like Shrimp and Cucumber Salad. Or it can used in hearty comfort food like Keto Shrimp Chowder.

But Chili Garlic Shrimp is perhaps my favorite way to serve it. It’s quick, easy, and always delicious.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

  • Bold flavor: The combination of chili garlic sauce and cumin is astonishingly good!
  • Ridiculously easy: You simply toss the shrimp with the seasonings and sauté for less than 5 minutes.
  • Surprisingly light: Shrimp has very little in the way of fat, so it can serve as a lighter meal when you need one. I love using this shrimp over a fresh green salad.
  • Low carb: Each serving has less than 1 gram of carbs. So you can pair it with your favorite low carb sides for a keto-approved meal.
  • High protein: With over 30 grams per serving, this is a great way to max out your protein goals.
  • Serving options: These tasty shrimp can be served as an appetizer, with a nice dipping sauce, or as part of a main meal.

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for chili garlic shrimp.
  • Shrimp: I recommend using large peeled shrimp. It doesn’t matter whether the tail is on or off, it cooks the same way.
  • Chili Garlic Sauce: This is not the same as chili crunch or sweet chili sauce, as both of those have sugar. It is a concentrated paste from Huy Fong (the makers of Sriracha) that has no added sugar. A little goes a long way, trust me!
  • Cumin: I have been making this shrimp recipe for so long, I don’t even remember when I started adding cumin. But it’s a fabulous combo!
  • Olive oil: Extra virgin olive oil is the best choice for cooking the shrimp, but you can also use avocado oil.

How to Make Chili Garlic Shrimp

A collage of 4 images showing the steps for making Chili Garlic Shrimp.
  1. Add the seasonings: In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with the chili garlic sauce and cumin until well coated.
  2. Heat the oil: Get the pan nice and hot before adding the shrimp.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Spread them out in a single layer in the hot pan and allow to cook for 2 minutes, then flip them over and cook another minute or two.
  4. Serve: Sprinkle with a little chopped cilantro or parsley. Serve as an appetizer or main dish.

Tips for Success

Patting the shrimp dry prior to cooking helps them crisp up and brown better. Add moisture can make them rubbery. If using frozen shrimp, let them thaw completely in a sieve over the sink, then pat dry.

Chili garlic sauce can be quite spicy so start with 1 teaspoon the first time you try this, unless you know you like it. You can always add more spice, but you can’t take it away once the shrimp are cooked.

Get that pan and oil nice and hot before adding the shrimp. You want to sear them quickly to lock in the moisture. And be sure to use a large enough pan to hold all the shrimp in one layer, so each one is against the hot pan.

Why It Matters

I will be the first to say that snacking should not be the focus of your diet. You can, and should, get the majority of your protein from well-balanced meals. That said, high protein low carb snacks can be a powerful tool for making the keto lifestyle sustainable.

Protein helps control hunger hormones, supports stable blood sugar, and plays a key role in preserving muscle as we age. When snacks are built around protein, they stop being “filler” food and start becoming real nourishment. Why not make your snack habit work a little harder for you?

If you are trying to increase your protein intake, these recipes can help. They are all crafted to be easy, convenient, and delicious. Why not make your snack habit work a little harder for you?

Rosemary Salted Pecans – All Day I Dream About Food https://recipecoast.com/rosemary-salted-pecans-all-day-i-dream-about-food/ Tue, 03 Feb 2026 19:52:33 +0000 https://recipecoast.com/rosemary-salted-pecans-all-day-i-dream-about-food/

These Salted Pecans with Rosemary take snacking to new heights! Deliciously toasted and crisp, they pair perfectly with your favorite cheese or charcuterie.

Salted pecans with rosemary piled up in a speckled gray bowl on a pewter plate.

Congratulations! You may not realize it quite yet, but have just come across the best keto snack ever. Given how many keto snack recipes I have created over the years, I don’t say that lightly. But these salted pecans with rosemary are one of the most delightful things you will ever put in your mouth.

I have actually been making this recipe for years now, and my friends all rave about it. Often when I am invited to a gathering, there is a request for my salty rosemary pecans. Everyone always seems amazed by them, asking me how I make them. One young woman recently asked if I sprinkled them with fairy dust, they were that good!

Salted pecans piled up in a flecked gray bowl on a marble table top.

The truth is that these salted pecans are ridiculously simple. They take 5 ingredients and 20 minutes to make. I usually don’t even measure anything as I make them, I just go by gut instinct. But I took the time to quantify the recipe so I could share it here with you.

Fair warning that these are absolutely addictive. I only make them when I have people to share them with. Otherwise I would eat the whole batch on my own in a matter of days!

Close up shot of salted pecans with rosemary in a flecked gray bowl.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

  • So simple! In need of a last minute appetizer or snack? This will become your go-to recipe!
  • Amazing flavor: The combination of pecans, truffle salt, and rosemary is so magical, you may actually think they are made with fairy dust.
  • Naturally low carb: Pecans are very low in carbs, with a good amount of fiber. Each serving has only 1.2 grams net carbs.
  • Healthy fats: Between the olive oil and the natural fats in the pecans, this recipe is low in saturated fat.
  • Great for charcuterie boards! My favorite way to serve these is with a soft brie or some homemade Boursin cheese.

Ingredient Notes

Top down image of ingredients needed for Salted Rosemary Pecans.
  • Pecan halves: Fresh raw pecans work best for this recipe. See the Tips for Success if you only have roasted pecans.
  • Butter: A little butter helps brown up the pecans really nicely, but watch that it doesn’t burn!
  • Olive oil: I like the combination of butter and oil, but you can do all butter or all olive oil, as you see fit.
  • Truffle salt: This adds another depth of flavor but regular kosher salt or sea salt also works.
  • Rosemary: Use fresh rosemary whenever possible.

How to Make Salted Pecans

A collage of 6 images showing the steps for making Rosemary Salted Pecans.
  1. Prep the rosemary: Strip the leaves from the stem of the rosemary sprig and use a sharp knife to chop finely.
  2. Brown the pecans: Add the pecans to a hot skillet and cook 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Add the oils: Make a whole in the center of the pecans and add the butter. Let it melt and then add the oil and the salt.
  4. Keep cooking: Continue to cook, stirring frequently, a few more minutes. Turn off the heat but continue to stir so they don’t burn in the pan as it cools down.
  5. Let cool: Allow the pecans to come to room temperature in the pan.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Tips for Success

It’s best to chop the rosemary before you start cooking. The nuts need almost constant attention so they don’t burn, and you don’t want to be distracted in the middle of it.

If you are using a cast iron skillet (my favorite way to cook them), keep in mind that it holds its heat long after the stove is no longer on. Keep stirring very frequently for 5 minutes or so, to prevent burning.

The pecans will be quite soft when still warm. I like them best after they have cooled completely.

Truffle salt is a relatively new addition to my recipe. I added it one day on a whim and it made them utterly irresistible! But these salted pecans are still delicious with regular kosher salt or sea salt. Sometimes I do a mix of both truffle salt and kosher salt.

Occasionally I have purchased salted pecans, only to be disappointed by the lack of flavor. So I add a little more of my own by heating up a skillet with some butter or oil, tossing the pecans to coat, and adding some additional salt and some rosemary. You don’t really need to cook them very long and they taste so much better!

  • 1 large rosemary sprig, or two smaller ones
  • 3 cups raw pecan halves
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp truffle salt, or kosher salt

Prevent your screen from going dark

  • Heat a 10 to 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Remove the stems from the rosemary and chop finely.

  • Once hot, add the pecans and spread out into an even layer. Cook, stirring frequently for 4 to 5 minutes, until they begin to brown.

  • Create a space in the center of the pan and add the butter. Allow it to melt, then toss to coat the pecans. Stir in the olive oil and sprinkle with the salt.

  • Continue to cook another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring very frequently to keep the nuts from burning.

  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle with the rosemary. Continue to stir frequently, as they will keep cooking for a little while as the pan cools down.

  • Cool to room temperature. Taste and add more salt if desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are pecans keto friendly?

Yes, pecans are very keto-friendly! The raw nuts have only about 3.8 grams of carbs and 1.7 grams of fiber per serving (30 grams or about 1/4 cup). They are also high in important nutrients like magnesium and potassium, and contain healthy fats.

How to you get salt to stick to pecans?

The best way to get salt to adhere to pecans is to cook them with a bit of oil or butter in a hot pan. Then add the salt and toss well to combine.

How do you store Rosemary Salted Pecans?

These nuts are best stored in a covered container on the counter. They will be fine for 10 days or longer, but they are so tasty, it’s unlikely they will last that long!

Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers – Nut-Free Snack https://recipecoast.com/keto-rosemary-parmesan-crackers-nut-free-snack/ Mon, 02 Feb 2026 19:49:22 +0000 https://recipecoast.com/keto-rosemary-parmesan-crackers-nut-free-snack/

Crisp, savory, and completely nut-free, these Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers make the perfect low carb snack. They bake up golden and crunchy every time, and they’re sturdy enough for cheese, dips, and charcuterie. Happy snacking!

Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers piled up in a rustic gray bowl on a white table.

Do not, I repeat, do NOT spend your hard-earned money on store-bought keto crackers. They never live up to the promise, and I speak from experience. Instead, make a batch of these easy and utterly delicious Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers. You will be very glad you heeded my advice.

I have been making and enjoying these for over a decade now, and I am always amazed by how good they are. Super crispy, flavorful, and sturdy enough to stand up to dips and spreads. And while I adore keto crackers made with almond flour, this recipe is entirely nut-free. Which is a huge win for anyone with allergies or with kids in school!

Keto Crackers piled up in a speckled gray bowl on a wooden cutting board.

Try them with a smear of homemade Boursin or dip them into some sausage cheese dip. Or just munch on them straight off the baking sheet. That’s what I do!

Reader’s Thoughts

“…and the angels sang…
I could live on cheese and crackers. Have really been missing the cracker part of the equation since going low carb. These. Are. Heaven!” — Eileen

Keto Rosemary Crackers on a small wooden cutting board with a wedge of brie. One of the crackers has brie spread on it.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Moutwatering flavor: Parmesan and rosemary are the perfect savory combination.
  • Super crispy: Low oven temperature and long baking time ensure that they come out golden and crisp every time.
  • Easy to make: It takes only about 15 minutes to prep the dough and crackers.
  • Make ahead recipe: These keto crackers store really well in a covered container on the counter.
  • Nut-free: Perfect for anyone with nut allergies or for parents with kids in a nut-free school.
  • Low carb: They have only 2.9 grams net carbs per serving!

Ingredient Notes

Top down image of ingredients needed for Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers.
  • Sunflower seed flour: This is the magic that makes them nut-free! I make my own sunflower seed flour at home and it’s very easy. And less expensive than purchasing it online.
  • Parmesan: The finely grated, powdery Parmesan works best. If you grate your own, you will want to weigh it to get the right amount. 1 ounces is about right.
  • Rosemary: Fresh rosemary makes all the difference to the flavor!
  • Egg white: This helps bind the cracker dough together.
  • Butter: You can also use any kind of oil, like avocado or olive oil.
  • Seasoning: Garlic powder, salt, pepper.

How to Make Nut-Free Keto Crackers

A collage of 6 images showing how to make Nut-free Keto Crackers.
  1. Combine the dry ingredients: Whisk the sunflower seed flour, Parmesan, garlic powder, rosemary, and salt. Break up any clumps in the flour and the cheese.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Stir in the egg white and butter until the dough comes together.
  3. Roll out: Pat into a rectangle and roll the dough out to 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch thickness as evenly as you can.
  4. Score the dough: Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut into squares, about 1.5 inches each.
  5. Bake the crackers: Bake in a 300ºF oven until golden brown.
  6. Break apart: Let them cool completely, then break them along the score lines.
A stack of keto crackers on a white table with a bowl of crackers in the background.

Tips for Success

Roll the dough out as evenly as possible. It doesn’t matter whether you make them thicker or thinner, but it needs to be even so that they bake evenly. Keep in mind that thicker crackers will be sturdier but will take longer to bake.

The edges of the crackers usually bake and brown a little faster than the center. I recommend taking the pan out of the oven a few times and breaking off the crispy edge pieces, then returning it to the oven.

If you live in a very humid climate, they may absorb some moisture from the atmosphere and can soften. But they crisp up again nicely when popped in a warm oven. Set your oven to about 200ºF and re-bake the crackers for 15 minutes or so, then let cool before serving.

Crisp, savory, and completely nut-free, these Keto Rosemary Parmesan Crackers make the perfect low carb snack. They bake up golden and crunchy every time, and they’re sturdy enough for cheese, dips, and charcuterie. Happy snacking!

  • 2 cups (220 g) sunflower seed flour
  • 1/2 cup (28 g) finely grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large (1) egg white
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Prevent your screen from going dark

  • Preheat the oven to 300F.

  • In a large bowl, combine the sunflower seed flour, Parmesan, rosemary, garlic powder, and salt.

  • Stir in the egg white and butter until the dough comes together.

  • Turn the dough out onto a large silicone baking mat and pat into a rough rectangle. Top with a large piece of parchment paper. Roll out to about a 1/4 to 1/8-inch thickness, as evenly as you can. Remove the parchment

  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to score into 1 to 2-inch squares. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Transfer the baking mat to a large baking sheet.

  • Bake 30 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the crackers are firm to the touch. Remove and let cool completely before breaking apart. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

  • If the edges are browning before the center pieces firm up, you can break them off and allow the rest to keep cooking.

How many crackers you get depends on how thin you roll the dough and how large you cut them. I roll mine to about 1/8th inches thick, and cut them into 1 1/2 inch squares and I usually get about 40 crackers.

These Cinnamon Roll Protein Bites are an easy and delicious keto snack idea. Tender little bites packed with protein and sweet cinnamon spice. And a little drizzle of white chocolate doesn’t hurt either!

Close up shot of a Cinnamon Roll Protein Bite with white chocolate drizzle on white parchment paper.

Protein snacks are all the rage and I am riding that delicious trend with absolute delight. Getting more protein into your diet can seem like a daunting task, so I love coming up with creative ways to make it more enjoyable. And these Cinnamon Roll Protein Balls are definitely enjoyable!

Close up shot of a cinnamon roll protein ball on a white piece of parchment.

I often keep Peanut Butter Protein Balls in the fridge for quick boosts, but I decided to switch up the flavor profile. And what’s more tasty than cinnamon rolls? These little bites are soft and lightly sweetened, and just the right size for a post-workout snack or afternoon pick-me-up.

And they come together quickly and easily, no baking required! You may also want to try my Protein Cookie Dough Bark.

Cinnamon Roll Protein Balls piled up in a rustic brown bowl.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Sweet cinnamon flavor: Who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls? These little bites have all the flavor without the sugar high.
  • Easy no bake recipe: Just mix the ingredients and roll into balls.
  • Make ahead: These protein balls store well in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • Portable: Pop a few in your bag as you head to the office or to the gym.
  • Protein packed: 12 grams of protein per serving.
  • Sugar free and low carb: No added sugar and only 3.2 grams net carbs.

Ingredient Notes

  • Nut butter: I used almond butter, but you can really use any nut or seed butter in this recipe. Sunflower seed butter is a good nut-free alternative.
  • Protein powder: Your favorite protein powder should work here, whether it’s whey or collagen. Different kinds may affect the consistency of the dough so be ready to adjust.
  • Sweetener: Powdered sweetener works best for protein balls.
  • Hemp seeds: Hemp seeds have a surprising amount of protein and add a nutty crunch to the protein balls. If you prefer, you can use more almond flour.
  • Almond flour: This helps create some bulk and hold the balls together better. You can also use sunflower seed flour for a nut-free option.
  • Sugar free white chocolate: A little white chocolate drizzle makes them look like cinnamon rolls.
  • Coconut oil: This helps the white chocolate melt more smoothly.
  • Pantry staples: Cinnamon and salt.

Overview: How to Make This Recipe

A collage of 6 images showing the steps for making Cinnamon Roll Protein Balls.
  1. Make the dough: Combine the almond butter, protein powder, sweetener, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Mix in additions: Add the hemp seeds and almond flour and mix until a cohesive dough forms. Add a little oil if the dough is crumbly.
  3. Roll into balls: Roll into 1 inch balls and refrigerate until firm.
  4. Drizzle: Melt the white chocolate with the coconut oil then drizzle over the protein balls and refrigerate until set.

Tips for Success

The consistency of the dough depends heavily on the almond butter. Make sure to mix in any separated oil very well before starting this recipe. Too much oil will cause the dough to be wet and goopy, which is easily corrected with almond flour.

The kind of protein powder you use will also affect the consistency. I recommend whey protein for best results, but other kinds will work. Again, you simply need to be ready to adjust with almond flour or additional oil.

I recommend powdered sweetener for this recipe, either erythritol or Allulose-based. But high intensity sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit extract are an option as well.

Sugar free white chocolate is VERY finicky. Be sure to melt it over a double boiler with barely simmering water, stirring constantly. Once it’s mostly melted, remove the bowl from over the heat. Continue to stir, allowing the residual heat to melt it smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is whey protein keto friendly?

Protein powders can contain added ingredients and sweeteners that raise the carb count significantly. But some brands use cleaner ingredients and keto-friendly sweeteners such as stevia or monk fruit and are appropriate for keto diets. I look for grass-fed whey protein with 2 grams or less per serving.

How many carbs are in Keto Cinnamon Roll Protein Balls?

This keto cinnamon roll protein balls recipe has 6.3g of carbs and 3.1g of fiber per serving. That comes to 3.2g net carbs for two protein balls.

How do you store Keto Protein Balls?

Store the balls in a covered container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. They can also be frozen for several months.

Chicken Yakitori Skewers on a black plate with a white bowl of dipping sauce.

When I make over a conventional recipe, I work hard to stay as true to the original as possible. And this mouthwatering chicken yakitori recipe keeps all of the luscious umami flavor while cutting out the unnecessary sugars.

Yakitori is a classic Japanese street food featuring juicy grilled chicken skewers brushed with a savory-sweet glaze. Similar to Keto Teriyaki Wings or Asian Steak Bites, it has that irresistible sticky, caramelized finish.

Eat it as an appetizer or serve with some Chili Garlic Green Beans or some Keto Sesame Noodles for a light and healthy meal!

And the best part? My whole family loves it, even my three picky teenagers. That’s a rare phenomenon, as many parents would know. They devoured the skewers hot of the grill and requested it again the very next week. It’s a huge win when I can serve something that’s low carb enough for me and gets thumbs up from the kids.

  • Flavorful sauce: It has all the salty-sweet flavor of the original without the added sugar.
  • Grill or broil: It’s great for grilling season but you can also cook them in the oven.
  • Low carb: Swapping out the sugar for keto-friendly sweeteners means it won’t spike your blood sugar.
  • High protein: When served as a full meal, this chicken yakitori recipe has 35 grams of high quality protein per serving.

Ingredient Notes

  • Soy sauce: I know many keto and paleo proponents recommend coconut aminos but it simply doesn’t have that classic umami flavor, and I find it a weak substitute for keto Asian recipes. Additionally, it has more carbs than real soy sauce or tamari (gluten-free soy sauce).
  • Sweetener: I used brown sugar substitute, with a bit of allulose to make the sauce more syrupy and sticky.
  • Toasted sesame oil: Toasted sesame oil has more flavor. You could use another oil like avocado if you prefer.
  • Flavor: Fresh garlic, ginger and hot pepper flakes.
  • Xanthan gum: This is used to thicken the sauce. You could also try using glucomannan in the same amount.
  • Chicken thighs: I like using boneless chicken thighs for more succulent, juicy skewers.
  • Garnishes: Toasted sesame seeds and green onions.

  1. Prepare the sauce: Combine the tamari, water, sweeteners, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and hot pepper flakes and bring to a boil. Sprinkle the surface with the xanthan gum and whisk vigorously to combine. Cook until somewhat thickened then remove from heat and cool completely.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Combine chicken with 2/3 of the sauce and chill for 2 hours to marinate.
  3. Grill: Thread the chicken onto the skewers and grill over medium high heat, brushing the chicken with the marinating liquid.
  4. Serve: Remove to a platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds and scallions. Serve with the reserved sauce at the table.

Tips for Success

Appetizer size: This makes a wonderful appetizer when served on smaller skewers. You would likely get 12 to 15 skewers out of this recipe.

Oven-baked method: You can easily cook these skewers in the oven as well. Heat the broiler to high and place on a broiling rack 8 to 10 inches from the heat. Broil about 4 minutes per side, until nicely browned. Be sure to keep your eye on them as broilers differ in intensity.

Sweetener options: You can sweeten the sauce with any sweetener you like best. However, I find that brown sweeteners give a deeper flavor and a little allulose (or xylitol) helps to give it that sticky Asian quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is yakitori made of?

These Japanese skewers are traditionally made with many parts of the chicken, including gizzards and hearts, along with thigh and breast meat. Sometimes it includes pieces of green onion as well. It’s all cut into bite-sized pieces, and then basted in a sweet and savory sauce and grilled over charcoal.

Do you need to soak the skewers before grilling?

If you are using bamboo skewers, be sure to soak them for at least half an hour before threading the meat onto them. Soaking them ensures that they don’t catch on fire over the hot flames.

Ingredient Notes

  • Ground chicken: This simplifies the process, as there is no need to chop the chicken or to process it in a food processor.
  • Sharp cheddar: I grated a full block of sharp cheddar (Cabot Seriously Sharp!) for these fritters and they were seriously amazing. They had a crispy cheese crust as they came out of the pan that was absolutely delectable.
  • Almond flour: Almond flour or another nut or seed meal will help bind the mixture together. I don’t recommend coconut flour, as it will make the fritters dry and tough. Instead, try using another nut or seed meal, or even ground pork rinds.
  • Egg: This is the glue that binds the patty mixture together.
  • Seasonings: Garlic, parsley, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper
  • Oil and butter for frying

Tips for Success

An hour in the fridge allows the fritters to firm up hold together better when frying. But you can make the patties up to a day in advance of cooking.

Make them any size! I like the small fritters for appetizers and snacks but many readers turn them into full size burgers.

You should get 24 to 26 small patties, and you can cook 8 to 10 at a time in a large skillet, so you will need to work in batches. I recommend scraping out some of the stuck-on cheese between batches, to avoid burning it.

Yes, you can air fry them! Grease the basket well and then brush a little melted butter over the fritters to help them brown. I suggest cooking them at 400ºF for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking.
